CONSULTING:

Consultation on fictional works in progress

"I consulted Dr. Kristine Laderoute on drafts of my novels regarding the psychological integrity of the characters, including their mindsets and behaviours. Dr. Laderoute gave hugely valuable feedback that helped to inform my revisions—she was thoughtful, insightful, engaged, and an absolute pleasure to work with. I highly recommend her services as a consultant on works in progress."

— Ashley Audrain,
New York Times bestselling author of THE PUSH

I love consulting on fictional works in progress and feel honoured to be part of a writer’s process. In this capacity, I help writers fine-tune the psychological integrity of their work by reviewing and providing psychologically informed feedback on their manuscripts. This feedback can help writers strengthen their stories by helping to:

  • connect them with their deepest intention for their story

  • more clearly define and understand the psychological framework of their story

  • expand the psychological depth of their characters/story

  • enhance the emotional grip/repel of their characters on the reader

  • clear any psychological stuck points in their written work

CONSULTING:

Consultation on navigating the separation/divorce process

I have both personal and professional experience helping people navigate the separation/divorce process from a psychological lens.

I provide consultation to:

  1. People who themselves are going through the process, and

  2. Professionals who are trying to help them. For example, lawyers and mediators who would like consultation on psychological strategy to assist their clients; mental health professionals who do not have experience with the legal aspects of the separation/divorce process and would like consultation to better assist their clients as they move through it.

CONSULTING:

Consultation on the psychological safety of your setting

My volunteer work as a Family Advisor at SickKids and my work with first responders, has made me aware that the high level of priority placed on ensuring that physical safety standards are met in group settings is often not matched when it comes to ensuring psychological safety.

My advocacy for increased psychological support for parents at SickKids inspired me to want to help enhance psychological safety in other group settings by consulting about how the people in these settings might: 1) increase their psychological literacy and awareness, 2) implement or improve mental health supports, and 3) reduce mental health stigma.

Examples of such settings may include, but are not limited to:

  • hospital units

  • family health teams

  • community based clinics

  • healthcare training programs

  • first responder services

  • workplace settings

Perhaps your particular setting could benefit from this service. If you are not sure, contact me!

PSYCHOEDUCATION:

Workshops + Speaking + Writing

I provide psychoeducation to the community on topics of a psychological nature that are within my scope of practice. Psychoeducation is offered through workshops, speaking engagements (e.g., podcasts, lunch and learn, seminars, webinars, private group talks), or freelance writing contributions.

Topics that I enjoy speaking and writing about include anxiety, maladaptive perfectionism, women’s issues, wellness, separation/divorce, emotional support for parents, and dealing with narcissistic others, to name a few.

Contact me to learn more about how I might contribute to the psychological education of your group or audience.
