Dr. Mark Potashner has worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults and families for more than 25 years. He provides therapy and psychological assessments addressing a broad array of presenting concerns. His years as a coordinator of psychological services in a board of education has allowed him to have both clinical and psychoeducational experience in a variety of areas such as; learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, ADHD, gifted identification, parent-child conflict, anxiety and depression. Mark’s assessment focus is to better understand a person’s strengths at taking in and processing information in order to plan possible interventions to better manage areas of need. Mark’s therapy approach is strength-based counseling offered in a caring and supportive way. When clients come to see a therapist it is usually a difficult or stressful time in their lives. Mark’s laid back approach, caring listening, supportive strategies and sense of humour helps clients move forward towards achieving their goals. Mark offers therapy services in the evening and collects assessment data in weekend appointments.

While my fees are not covered by the government, they may be covered by extended benefit plans offered by your employer. Check your coverage under psychological services. Often, these benefits are grouped under paramedical expenses. Alternatively, if you or a family member is self-employed, you may be able to deduct the expense of my services directly from your business.

For Therapy, my current rates are $245/ session, whether for individual clients, couples or family work. A session is 50 minutes of direct contact, leaving ten minutes for note-taking, and treatment planning.

For Assessment, the fee is determined by the number of hours it takes to gather and analyze the data, produce the report and share back the findings and possible next steps. A typical assessment costs around $3,000-$3500.

For therapy services, payment is expected after each session. Payment can be made using cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard, or Debit Card.

For assessment, payment of $1500 is expected after the first data-gathering session. The balance will be due at the time of the results-sharing session. This is usually about two weeks after the last data-gathering session.
