Dr. Abby Goldstein received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University and is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She trained at Brown University (internship), the University of Michigan (fellowship), and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Dr. Goldstein conducts therapy with clients experiencing a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic), addictions, work- and school-related stress, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. She also conducts assessments for older adolescents/young adults and adults regarding learning and attention-related concerns with recommendations for school (college and university) and work.

Dr. Goldstein structures treatment to meet the individual needs and goals of her clients and works collaboratively with clients to establish a treatment plan. Her approach begins with developing a safe therapeutic relationship and she utilizes treatments that are well supported by research, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy.

Dr. Goldstein works with older adolescents (16+), emerging adults (ages 18-29), and adults.

Dr. Goldstein is President of the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood and a member of the Research Society on Alcoholism, the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, and the Canadian Psychological Association.

In addition to her private practice, Dr. Goldstein is an Associate Professor of Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, where she teaches, supervises students and maintains an active program of research.
