Dr. Abby Goldstein received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University and is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She trained at Brown University (internship), the University of Michigan (fellowship), and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Dr. Goldstein conducts therapy with clients experiencing a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic), addictions, work- and school-related stress, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
Dr. Goldstein structures treatment to meet the individual needs and goals of her clients and works collaboratively with clients to establish a treatment plan. Her approach to treatment begins with developing a safe therapeutic relationship and she utilizes treatments that are well supported by research, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapies, and interpersonal psychotherapy.
Dr. Goldstein works with older adolescents, emerging adults (ages 18-29), and adults.
Dr. Goldstein is a member of the Society for Studies on Emerging Adulthood, the Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies, and the Canadian Psychological Association.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Goldstein is an Assistant Professor of Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, where she teaches, supervises students and maintains an active program of research.
